I read an article recently by a popular WordPress blogger where he discussed the truth behind what people mean when they say those infamous words “WordPress is easy.” In the article the three points were (1) WordPress is easy relative to alternatives. (2) WordPress is easy to learn. (3) WordPress is easy, once you understand it.
But first, I want to slow down a bit to pose this question:
Why are we talking about WordPress in the first place?
First for content, a content management system is like the operating system for your website. In computer speak, the two most popular operating systems are Windows and MacOS.
Below I outline the most popular operating systems–or content management systems–used by website owners in the year 2019.

Commonly referred to companies like Wix and Squarespace get their reputation because of their Superbowl commercials, they only make up less than 4% of the total websites on the Internet when you do the math. Its safe to say WordPress is not only loved by the people who own their website, but it also is strongly considered when search engine companies review their algorithms–meaning WordPress is the choice for anyone who cares about ranking well on search.
People Love WordPress
I need to be clear, these are my opinions & I could be wrong, but WordPress is by far the dominant CMS loved by website owners and people who use the Internet. It’s free, its easy relative to alternatives and it’s easy once you understand it. And with that let me get to the real point of this article I’m writing here today!
WordPress is especially easy when..
- You have someone train you how to use it
Going back to the article from Morton, his second point was WordPress is easy to learn, and his third was WordPress is easy once you understand it. I agree with both of these points. There is nothing wrong with hiring a WordPress expert to come in and train your team on the ins and outs of how to use WordPress effectively. > Hire one today
- Your designer simplifies it
Have you ever considered that how your web designer has set up your website on the front end affects the way you go about updating content on the back end?
Well its true! The simpler your website is for the end-user to absorb content and navigate around your digital home the better. Not only that, having a continuous tone with all new and updated content on your website is what establishes your brand voice.
- Your web company will update it for you
Having a website that looks like it’s been updated recently is important. A website that isn’t engaging or relevant makes your business look like its not open. Once you understand how your website is set up for you to develop and grow your voice you are freed up to create more content that aligns with that voice. Going back to the 3rd point in Morton’s article, “WordPress is easy—once you understand it,” — I’d like to add to that conversation that once you understand how to breathe, have proper posture, and articulate yourself through your website it becomes much easier to know what it is you want to say, and what you want as the business owner.
